An Ongoing Commitment to Community and Diversity
Throughout my career, I have actively pursued opportunities to contribute my talents to diverse communities.
As a graphic designer, I have worked on a number of an award-winning initiatives to help elevate people of different cultures and backgrounds—most recently completing a social media campaign for a Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) scholarship initiative for Seven Hillz Productions Foundation. I’ve also completed a rebrand for the grassroots initiative Colorado Parents for Quality Education. The primarily African-American group empowers parents with resources, information and networking opportunities to be effective, powerful, formidable advocates for their children’s educational rights.
I have served as a judge at the annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. SkillsUSA improves the quality of America’s skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training. I have also served as a design project juror at the STEAM-focused Ignite Institute Roebling Innovation Center, College of Design in Boone County Kentucky.
I acted as the event emcee for the 1N5 fundraising event in 2016. The mission of 1N5 is to prevent suicide by erasing the stigma of mental illness and promoting optimal mental wellness. This event featured then University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono and raised well over $115,000 for the non-profit. 1N5 is an outgrowth of The Warrior Run, founded by Nancy Eigel-Miller after the suicide of her husband.
I also work to support Kiwanis International—a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time.
Additionally, as an Adjunct at University of Cincinnati, Miami University and University of Louisville, I have completed the following courses that helped to prepare me to work in a campus environment with faculty, staff and students from cultures and backgrounds different than my own.
- Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace (EDU)
- Bridges: Building a Supportive Community
- Harassment & Discrimination Prevention
- Managing Bias
- Accessibility and Electronic and Information
Technology (EIT) Compliance Training - Hazing Awareness and Prevention
